We're More Than Just a Place to Park

Colonial Parking is a family company—started in 1956 by Richard G. Hatfield and run by his son John E. “Jed” Hatfield today. That same idea of family is the backbone of everything we do. We treat our associates like family and we want you to feel taken care of too.

Vision

Elevate the parking industry with the optimal mix of experienced parking professionals and technology to deliver unparalleled service to create hassle-free, accessible, and sustainable parking solutions. We aim to redefine convenience for our clients, enhancing urban mobility, reducing congestion, and contributing to a greener, more efficient future. Through our commitment to excellence and innovation, we strive to be the leading force in transforming parking management, making facilities smarter, safer, and more convenient for all.

Mission

Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) Statement

At Colonial, we celebrate and seek diversity. It is diversity of perspective that provides the best solutions. Creating an environment where each person feels seen, heard, and valued. We do this by intentionally incorporating inclusivity at every level.

We value our associates’ unique experiences and perspectives and know it is our collective differences that bring the greatest value and insights to Colonial.

Our DE&I strategy has three key focus areas that we believe deliver meaningful and sustainable progress in the DE&I areas:

  1. Foster a diverse workforce with equitable opportunities for all associates.
  2. Cultivate a culture of inclusion so every associate feels seen, heard and valued.
  3. Increase the positive impact of DE&I efforts for our clients, partners and the communities we serve.

In order to provide an environment that supports diversity, equity, and inclusion across our company, associates have equal access to career development opportunities based on their individual abilities that provide the tools, support, and mentoring needed to grow their careers.

Our Founder

Richard G. “Dick” Hatfield founded Colonial Parking, Inc. in 1956 with one parking lot in Allentown, Pennsylvania. With over 60-years of dedication to his family, company, and industry, Mr. Hatfield has demonstrated his passion—growing Colonial and its affiliated companies into a regional parking management organization.

The values that Mr. Hatfield instilled in Colonial during those early days are the values that continue to drive the growth of Colonial and our affiliated companies.

Our People

We train our associates on the traditional standards of courtesy, fairness, and consideration. You should expect to be greeted with a smile and have any concerns treated as a top priority.

But training can only do so much—we believe associates that are cared for, take better care of customers, and enjoy their work even more. So we take pride in how we treat our team of over 140 like family—many of them have been with us ten, twenty, or even thirty years!

Our Technology

Don’t assume “family company” means “out-of-touch.” We are continually exploring the latest innovations in the parking and real estate industries and have close relationships with leaders in the industry.

We use tech that is customer-friendly, energy efficient, accurate, and cost-effective. This goes from everything to our ticket machines to our lightbulbs (we recently saved $25,092 with a 41% energy reduction by switching to LED lighting while also working with a vendor to provide better quality light for our garage).

“We pride ourselves on being large enough to use the latest technology, but small enough to offer individual attention to each location.” – Jed Hatfield, President

Our Industries

Another reason we’re more than just a place to park is because Colonial is also in the real estate business. As a company, we not only provide Parking and Parking Facility Management, Maintenance, and Development. We also offer our seasoned perspective to help with Real Estate Development.

Our clients include hospitals, governments, hotels, retail stores, real estate brokers, and developers. We have a diverse base of experience while also providing a niche understanding of parking and longevity.
